Transport
The transport sector is concerned with the movement of people or goods. Therefore the ergonomics and human factors approach is well suited to optimising these operations. Whether the objective is mass transport, where operations are more safety critical, or whether they are more concerned with the transport of goods, there are common human factors principles and practices that should be applied.
Hu-Tech has experience of all aspects of the transport sector; whether rail, road, air or sea. Having completed the following - control room design for effective communication, monitoring and operation; cockpit/cab design; workstation design, passenger movement studies - we are well briefed in the issues, the procedures and standards as well as the practices that are used.
We have particular experience integrating security and passenger information systems hardware into workstations, control rooms and public areas. Our work on dimensional requirements for baggage belts has been used by the Health and Safety Executive in producing industry guidance. Further, we have been consulted to conduct blue sky concepts in future port design.
