Ergonomics within Manufacturing
In manufacturing environments, systems are often introduced or upgraded without giving full consideration of how users will actually carry out the tasks that are required of them. If there is a mis-match between the equipment or process and the user e.g. the production rate is too fast or the task is awkward to complete, it may have a detrimental affect not only on production, but also the user's health and safety. For these reasons, consideration of ergonomic principles is paramount; the earlier this is done, the better.
Hu-Tech has worked within many manufacturing environments over the years; examples include food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, clothing and consumer products. We are able to assist either at the development stage of a project before a system is introduced to ensure that best practice is being met, or by providing advice on systems that have already been introduced and are now causing difficulties to those that are required to interact with them.
Ensuring ergonomic best practice within your work environment could help increase productivity and efficiency whilst reducing overall costs, sickness absence rates and the incidence of musculoskeletal injuries.
