Ergonomic design

Many ergonomics issues may be due to inappropriate design or layout of the workplace. Whether these are related to furniture, equipment, or the workplace environment, ergonomics can be used to help improve the 'fit' between people and their workplace, thereby increasing their comfort, minimising risks to health and providing the basis for more efficient working.

We have advised a wide range of clients who have been looking to roll out new or extend their facilities, provide new furniture or to modify existing workplaces - on how to do this to minimise or reduce risk to users and to optimise productivity. To our clients, our ergonomic design services demonstrate a distinct cost benefit either ensuring the issues are 'designed out' at the conceptual stage, or whether existing equipment is upgraded to meet standards. Whether your business involves office tasks, manufacturing, retail or counter work, people's interacting with their workplace can have a significant impact on their health and comfort. We can provide practical assistance to design workplaces to best effect.

Simulation and Modelling

We are able to offer a proof of concept service using the latest digital human modelling and anthropometric design software. The ability to see many of the ergonomic and design issues in real world units 'virtually' before going to costly detail design can greatly reduce the project costs due to re-work. Using this strategy we have been able to successfully design out problems for clients before they even build a mock up for user trials.

Usability and user trials

Usability focuses on the systems, processes and equipment from the perspective of the user. Ease of use, logic, intuitiveness and fit for purpose are cornerstones of the user centred design process.
